Kay, in order to make this blog a tad more interactive, I'm going to throw a question out there for anyone reading and I'd love if all of you would please comment! Thanks a bunch :)
This week's question is...
Let's keep it simple: do you suffer from a mental illness, and if so, which one?
Any other additional comments you'd like to make would be cool, too. Even if you're not among the mentally ill, I'd still love to hear from you.

Yes, I suffer from stuttering.
Not like Elmer Fudd or anything. I can "will" my way over the hump 99% of the time, without anyone noticing anything's going on in my head. But, there's definitely something going on. When I can't just think my way around it, it's like someone's choking me but I can't make a sound. (When I do have problems, it's with starting sentences. Others have problems in the middle of words or sentences)
I've read a lot about it. Some think dopamine levels are too high (I've never tried it, but I guess some drugs to reduce dopamine help -- but the side effects are nasty), or brain hemispheres aren't connecting as they should, or GABA receptors aren't receiving signals on time (hence, the physical delay) ... but they haven't pin-pointed the exact cause. Whatever it is, "relaxing" or "talking slower" does absolutely nothing to stop the death grip on my brain.
But hey, I'm in law school and give speeches and such and no one notices so I'm one of the "lucky" ones. Just wears a guy out.
Chris
i don't think so, but i'm open to other opinions. :-)
Yes ma'am! I do!!!
ADD/HD, Depression, OCD, and Anxiety & Panic Disorder.
Hey thanks for commenting on my blog. Nice blog you have here. The actual disorder I've been diagnosed with is something I tend to keep quiet, because the name has a startling quality that I'm not entirely happy with. So I say I'm borderline because it's near enough, and because it's more flexible and open to interpretation.
